Tips for trips in the area

Pilgrimage area of Křtiny – Pearl of baroque architecture

The Křtiny pilgrimage site , one of the oldest and most important pilgrimage sites in Moravia, is located approximately 20 km from Brno in the village of Křtiny. This complex consists of the monumental Church of the Name of the Virgin Mary, the ossuary, the ambit courtyard, the chapel of St. Anne and the former provostship. Legend has it that it was in this valley that Saints Cyril and Methodius were baptized. In the 18th century, the original medieval area was replaced by a Baroque temple, designed by the famous architect Jan Blažej Santini-Aichel, famous for his unmistakable Baroque Gothic style.
